Feature:This MIM gear is working together with another bigger gear. Under what condition do use MIM to make parts? We can measure it from the following aspects.


First, the complexity of the product.

Parts that need to be assembled by multiple components can be designed as a MIM part and complex parts that cannot be manufactured by other processes.


Second, weight and size.

Product weight range from 0.1 to 250 grams. 50 grams is the most economical weight. 0.01g products can also be produced now. Because of the price of raw powder, the cost of products larger than 100g may rise. The wall thickness of 2 to 6 mm is the most suitable for MIM.

Third, output. 10 to 20 million is the most suitable and economical quantity. The larger quantity, the more cost advantages.


Fourth, raw materials and properties.

MIM can be used in a wide range of materials, from stainless steel, low alloy steel, cemented carbide, high specific gravity alloys to superalloys, titanium alloys, ceramics and metal matrix composites. In terms of performance, it is suitable to consider MIM process for materials that are close to full density, difficult to cut, non-standard materials, good surface roughness and clearer details of structural features.


MIM technology can make various kinds of metal parts. If your part is made of stainless steel, steel, iron and the shape is complex, MIM is the best choice. If you want to make metal components by MIM, you need to send us the parts drawings, including PDF and 3D files in which, we can see the shape, sizes, tolerance and other requirements such as surface treatment, hardness(HRC). Also, we need to know the quantity for the part. Because to make MIM items, the mold is important. To make a mold is around 3000--5500USD that based on the shape, so if the customer have several parts to produce, we suggest to put them in one mold to save cost.
