Kablet Gallo held a one-day seminar at the Metal Injection Molding Exhibition (MIM) in Neuhausen, Germany. It is aimed at component manufacturers who have long experience in MIM/additive manufacturing (AM) and are interested in new manufacturing possibilities. A technical paper on MIM&AM topics and a rich report on existing challenges in various interdisciplinary manufacturing fields have jointly provided participants with new ideas for process optimization.

IM and AM are both fast-growing markets with very good prospects. These manufacturing processes have a clear interdisciplinary orientation, ranging from preparation and shaping of powder production to post-processing. The MIM Seminar of Capulet Gallo has made a successful contribution to the promotion of interdisciplinary exchanges in this field.

Professor Carlo Burkhardt, Director of the Institute of Strategic Technology and Precious Metals, Pulfordsheim University, Germany, provided basic knowledge of MIM&AM and described the challenges in these areas. Gerhard Raatz of Laichi Technologies illustrates the possibility of particle size and size analysis of metal powders by means of dynamic image analysis. In his report on elemental analysis, Mike Lucka explained how to use Elter's elemental analyzer to determine carbon content in MIM parts of finished products. Elisa Gotze, from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), provided some insights into the research activities in the field of ceramic additives manufacturing at the Wbk Institute of Production Technology.
