Feature:With the development of China MIM technology, world famous communication enterprises Huawei and Foxconn have more and more spare parts made by MIM.

 

As a new machining technology, MIM’s development is influenced by several facts which decide the prospect, speed and trend of this technology. If these facts can be well researched, MIM will make a great step. Otherwise, it will be blocked.

 

MIM material includes metal powder and binders. Simply, we mix the two materials according to a proper rate, in a proper order, under high temperature and shear forces, so as to get a well-distributed structure combined material, then, pelleted by the granulator. Because of the binders, the material after pelleted have good fluidity, and can be fully filled into the molds. After forming, degreasing the binders from the blanks and sinter them, so to have the final products.

 

Since 1970s, after 40years development, MIM achieved a great progress. Also, some defects and weak-points expose out which block MIM’s further step.


MIM advantages:

Compared with traditional powder metallurgy, CNC machining and investment casting, MIM technology has the following advantages:

1, Unlimited shapes: MIM can make unlimited, complex shapes of parts by one shot process.

2, MIM can make holes, grooves, screw threads, annular knurls, words and logos.

3, Mass production: use MIM to make mass production, can save you more time and money.

4, Reliable physical properties: high intensity which can reach even 95%, good surface finish(MIM can reach Ra1.6), can do electrophoresis, nickle plating, vacuum coating etc., can do cementite, hardening, heat treatment etc., according to requirements.

5, High precision: the size precision for one shot process can reach +/- 0.1~0.5%. For some higher precision requirement, can machined by CNC.

6, Various materials: MIM parts can be made of iron, stainless steel, steel, hard alloys etc..

7, Low cost: to make complex shape and mass quantity parts, MIM can save quite a lot of cost.

8, Minimizes scrap losses by typically using more than 97% of the starting raw material.

9, Sustainable manufacturing - Green technology.

 

MIM technology can make various kinds of metal parts. If your part is made of stainless steel, steel, iron and the shape is complex, MIM is the best choice. If you want to make metal components by MIM, you need to send us the parts drawings, including PDF and 3D files in which, we can see the shape, sizes, tolerance and other requirements such as surface treatment, hardness(HRC). Also, we need to know the quantity for the part. Because to make MIM items, the mold is important. To make a mold is around 3000--5500USD that based on the shape, so if the customer have several parts to produce, we suggest to put them in one mold to save cost.
